Fake Indian Currency Notes Information System (FICN)

CIF has created a National level database and developed & deployed Web-enabled software for online recording and reporting of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) Seizures made by State/UT Police, Investigation Agencies, Intelligence Agencies & CAPF and Detections made by Banks (RBI, Public Sector, Private Sector & Foreign Banks). The link to the system is available below and can be accessed round the clock by Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance and other authorized users. Exclusive training-cum-workshops have been conducted for all stakeholders.

OLD Note

Old note is the currency notified by Government of India under Specified Banknotes (Cessation of liabilities) Act 2017, dated 27-02-2017. The Act repealed the Specified Banknotes (Cessation of liabilities) Ordinance 2016 providing for cessation of liabilities for the Specified Banknotes (SBNs) and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto, with effect from December 31, 2016. The SBNs cease to be the liabilities of the Reserve Bank under Section 34 of the RBI Act and cease to have the guarantee of the Central Government.

New Note

New note is the currency of specific denomination introduced subsequent to SBNs notified by Government of India under Specified Banknotes (Cessation of liabilities) Act 2017, dated 27-02-2017
